A lovely Green Tara floats on her pink lotus, in a flower garden with white, pink and yellow flowers. The deep green of her skin is accentuated with the bright reds and oranges of her robes and scarves. She holds the blue utpala or lotus flower in her right hand and her left hand extends downward in the blessings mudra. She is compassion in action. Her right foot comes off the lotus ready to jump up and come to the aid of practitioners.
Green Tara may be the most beloved figure in the Buddhist pantheon, always ready to come to the aid of those suffering in the ocean of samsara. She is considered the most accessible of the Bodhisattvas, ready to serve. Green Tara personifies compassion in the form of a gentle mother.
