Green Tara, Meditation on Kindness at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat by Faith Stone, Colorado wildlife, Goddess of Compassion, Yoga

$14.00

Comes signed by the artist!

Faith: Green Tara is the Goddess of loving-kindness and compassion. She is the female Buddha. The setting is Shoshoni Yoga Retreat in Colorado. I include local wildlife: elk, deer, a bobcat, black bear, and hummingbirds. There is also a mini self-portrait with my dog.

Green Tara is one of the most revered figures in Buddhism. She is the female Buddha. She is said to have been born from the tears of Chenrezig, who represents the compassion of all the Buddhas.

Green Tara’s right foot comes down off her lotus as though to say, “I am here when you need me.” She is considered the most accessible of the Bodhisattvas.

The deep green of her skin is accentuated with the bright reds and oranges of her robes and scarfs. She holds the blue utpala or lotus flower in her right hand and her left hand extends downward in the blessings mudra.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Faith Stone is co-founder and director of Shoshoni Yoga Retreat and Eldorado Yoga Ashram in Colorado, and Konalani Yoga Ashram in Hawaii. She has been drawing, carving, painting, and teaching Contemporary Buddhist art for over 25 years in both public schools and at the ashrams. Faith approaches carving and painting Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as a meditative sadhana with the idea that once complete, the artwork no longer belongs to the artist, it belongs to the deity. Faith's many roles as manager, artist, author, book-keeper, cook, teacher and mom serve as an inspiration for many as her work spreads across the world.
